Pine Belt Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency, Inc.
Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Pine Belt Multi-Purpose CAA, Inc. to be a local agent for policy on poverty and to strengthen, promote, represent and serve its network of citizens to assure that the poor are effectively heard and addressed.
The Pine Belt Multi-Purpose CAA, Inc. is a private non-profit agency established in 1980 as apart of the nation "War on Poverty" designed to alleviate poverty conditions existing in six North and Central Louisiana Parishes: Bienville, Jackson, Morehouse, Red River, Sabine and Winn. The human service agency serves low income residents through its central office (Jackson Parish), five outreach centers, and seven Head Start Centers.
The agency's guiding principle is that posit
ive social, educational and health intervention will assist low-income people to greater self-sufficiency, thus enhancing the quality of life. As the designated Northeast Louisiana official anti-poverty agency, Pine Belt continues to implement the philosophy of self-help through a decentralized neighborhood based structure and a process that provides innovative, practical and timely programs and services with opportunities for people to improve their economic status and reach their full potential.
The agency employees 86 local residents in six parishes. An eighteen member board of directors serving three sectors ( public, private, and low-income) governs all agency programs and activities. The agency operates the federally funded Head Start program, which is also under the auspices of a nine-member policy council advisory group. These governing bodies ensure that the Executive Director will be ultimately responsible for the oversight and administration of all programs according to the grantor's rules and regulations.
The agency's vision is to conquer the ever increasing challenges of successful Community Action throughout our service delivery area with a renewed commitment to empowering people on the road to greater self-sufficiency.
